The Netherlands is one of the fastest and most predictable corridors we operate. The country is small, densely populated and fully covered by the GLS network, so transit times are among the tightest in Europe: the difference between delivering in Amsterdam and in a village in Groningen is hours, not days.
It is a destination with two very clear profiles among our customers. On one hand, personal shipments: exchange students, people relocating for work and families with relatives there. On the other, a notable volume of bicycles, because it is the country where they are used most and many cyclists would rather ship their own than rent. For that case we have specific packaging and dimensions.
Because this is a shipment between EU countries there are no customs or import taxes: the calculator price is the final price, VAT already included. You get your quote, pay by card, receive your label by email and choose whether we collect from your address or you drop the parcel at a Parcel Shop.
Tips for a smooth shipment
Dutch postcodes include letters
The format is four digits and two letters, like 1012 AB, and those two letters identify the exact stretch of street. If you leave them out, the shipment enters the network with an incomplete address and may end up in manual sorting, with delays.
If you ship a bike, strip it down properly
Remove the pedals and front wheel, turn the handlebars parallel to the frame, lower the tyre pressure and protect the rear derailleur with rigid cardboard. It is the part most often bent in transit and the one that generates the most claims.
Mind the canal-house stairs
In central Amsterdam, Utrecht or Leiden, many homes have extremely narrow staircases and the driver delivers at the front door. If the parcel is bulky, warn the recipient to be available: this is not a shipment that can be left on a landing.
Check the volumetric weight
You are billed on the greater of actual and volumetric weight (length × width × height ÷ 5000). For bikes and bulky items the volumetric figure almost always wins, so sizing the box to the contents lowers the price noticeably.

How long does a parcel from Spain to the Netherlands take?
Typical road transit is 3 to 5 working days from pickup. Given the size of the country, the variation between provinces is minimal.
Do I need customs paperwork or duties?
No. Spain and the Netherlands are both part of the EU single market, so there is no customs clearance, duty or import VAT. You only need to respect the carrier's list of prohibited goods.
Can I ship an electric bike?
