Packing guide

Get your shipment ready

With a bike box, tape and 30 minutes it's ready to go. Here's how it travels safely:

GLS network limits

Maximum box girth: 300 cm (length + 2×width + 2×height) and 30 kg chargeable per parcel. With the wheels off, a compact bike box (e.g. 110 × 70 × 18 cm) fits within the limit. Important: an e-bike battery cannot travel (dangerous goods) — ship the bike without its battery.

Length + 2×Width + 2×Height ≤ 300 cm

  1. 1Partly disassemble itRemove the pedals and the wheels, and turn the handlebar parallel to the frame: the more compact the box, the better.
  2. 2Let some air out of the tyresLeave them at half pressure: they absorb transport knocks better.
  3. 3Protect frame and protruding partsBubble wrap or foam tubes (plumbing pipe insulation works great) on the frame, fork, axles and derailleur.
  4. 4Use a rigid bike boxGet a standard bike box (ask your local bike shop) and fill the gaps with cardboard: nothing should move inside.
  5. 5Loose parts go in a bagPedals, axle and bolts in a sealed bag attached to the frame. Never loose inside the box.
  6. 6Weigh and measure the boxClosed and taped: check in the calculator that it meets the size limits and stays under 30 kg chargeable.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to dismantle the bicycle?

Yes, partially: pedals off, handlebars turned and wheels depending on the type of box. With a standard bike box (width ≤ 30 cm) that's enough.

Can I send an e-bike?

Yes, always without the battery: lithium batteries are not accepted on the standard network. Send the bike and arrange the battery separately with a specialist carrier.

What are the maximum box dimensions?

The box girth (length + 2×width + 2×height) cannot exceed 300 cm, with a maximum of 30 kg chargeable. With the wheels off, a compact box (e.g. 110 × 70 × 18 cm) fits; the calculator checks the dimensions before giving you a price.

Is my bicycle insured during shipping?

It travels with the standard per-kg cover set by transport regulations. Since a bike is valuable, the key is packing it well: rigid box, protected frame and protruding parts, and no loose space. If there's an issue, open a claim with photos from your customer area and we process it with GLS.

How long does the bicycle take to arrive?

Within mainland Spain, usually 24–48 h from pickup. To the EU, between 2 and 6 working days depending on the destination country. The estimated time appears in your quote before you pay — handy especially for a dated sale.
