The United Kingdom is the destination most requested by the British community in Mazarrón, Puerto de Mazarrón and Camposol: parcels for family, belongings left behind after a move, second-hand sales and stock from small businesses still selling to UK customers. At Logística Mazarrón we handle it over the GLS network, with delivery anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The difference from the rest of Europe is that, since Brexit, the UK sits outside the customs union and the EU VAT territory. That means every shipment needs a customs declaration and an invoice or content document, with a real description of what is inside, its value and the reason for sending. It is not a step you can skip: a poorly documented parcel gets stuck at the border and usually ends up back with the sender.
The good news is that we prepare the paperwork for you. You get your price online from the weight and dimensions, tell us what you are sending and why, and we generate the customs documentation along with the label. From there the shipment travels by road and ferry within the GLS network, with tracking at every scan, including customs exit and entry.
Tips for a smooth shipment
Describe the contents properly
"Gift", "clothes" or "sundries" will not do on a customs declaration. Write what each item is, what it is made of and how many units: "3 cotton T-shirts", "1 hair dryer". Vague descriptions are the number-one reason parcels are held at the UK border.
Declare the real value, no more and no less
Under-declaring so the recipient pays less tax is customs fraud and it also caps your compensation if the parcel is lost: you will never recover more than you declared. State the market value of what you are sending, even if it is second-hand.
Who pays the taxes on arrival
By default the recipient pays on delivery. Gifts between private individuals below a certain value are usually exempt from import VAT; above it, VAT and possibly duty apply depending on the goods. HMRC sets those thresholds and they change, so always warn the recipient that a payment may be due.
If you sell, you need an EORI number
Commercial shipments require a Spanish EORI number and, depending on the case, the seller's UK VAT registration. If you are a freelancer or online shop and do not have one yet, apply before your first shipment: without an EORI, clearance cannot start.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a parcel from Spain to the UK take?
Typical transit is 4 to 7 working days from pickup. The range is wider than within the EU because it includes customs clearance, which can add a day or two if the paperwork needs any clarification.
Does the calculator price include UK taxes?
It includes transport, the customs handling surcharge and Spanish VAT, all fixed. What it does not include —because we do not collect it— are any UK import taxes applied on arrival, which are settled with the recipient.
Can I send my belongings if I am moving back to the UK?
Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons for shipping from Mazarrón. It is declared as personal effects, with an inventory of the contents of each parcel. If you are re-establishing residence in the UK there may be customs relief for transfer of residence: check with us before you pack.
